Highlights from 2024

As we step into 2025, we want to take a moment to reflect on the milestones that shaped 2024 at Bread Alone. This year reminded us of a simple truth: there are no roadmaps or shortcuts to baking real, nourishing sourdough at scale. But with a clear purpose, grit, creativity, and an extraordinary team, we’re forging a path that’s both sustainable and inspiring.

Here’s a few highlights from 2024:

A Tremendous Effort by an Extraordinary Team

Over 275 talented individuals came together this year, united by purpose, to make simple, honest food and great guest experiences. At the same time, we achieved remarkable progress in optimizing our bakery to scale and meet the growing demand for better bread.

Better Tools, Better Bread.

At our Hudson Valley bakery, we added flour silos filled nearly daily with organic, regionally grown wheat milled by partners who share our respect for people and planet. New sourdough tanks, fermentation chambers, and state-of-the-art ovens from around the world now help us bake more bread, while staying true to our roots of providing organic, long-fermentation sourdough.

Protecting our Planet.

We celebrated another year as one of the longest-certified organic bakeries in the U.S., donating 1% of all bread sales to environmental non-profits through 1% for the Planet. A few years ago we added another important certification: our packaged breads are now Certified Climate Neutral. This reflects our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint annually, and offsetting everything else.

For over 42 years, we’ve learned that progress happens day by day, year by year, loaf by loaf. It’s how we’ve forged this path, and it’s how we’ll continue to grow. To our team, partners, and all of you in our community: thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to another year of baking for people and the planet. Cheers!
