Gâteau Basque

What makes it special

Gâteau Basque is a traditional cake from the Basque region of France. Typically it is filled with black cherry jam or pastry cream. Ours is filled with rich lemon pastry cream. This rich and dense cake has a texture that is similar to coffee cake and will pair nicely with coffee or tea and enjoyed anytime of the day.

"Gateau" means "cake" in French.


Ingredients

Cake Batter: Butter, Sugar, Cake Flour, Eggs, Vanilla Extract, Baking Powder, Salt.

Lemon Pastry Cream: Whole Milk, Creme Fraiche, Sugar, Egg Yolks, Butter, Cornstarch, Vanilla Extract, Lemon Zest.
